Today, most digital audio workstations (DAWs) come with loads of high-quality built-in plugins, and I guess that would be enough to get you some amazing results. And the first thing that comes in my mind when thinking about stock-plugins, is Apple’s Logic Studio. It’s one amazing piece of software, with great functionality, and (dare I say) EXCELLENT PLUGINS! The compressors sound great, and there’s the superb Space Designer… which offers a vast array of reverbs that can be used in any kind of genre.
Other than that, I use the Waves SSL series, D16 Distortion plugins, and Overloud Vintage Keyboard FX. Those plugins, plus the Logic Studio ones offer me more than I can chew at the moment, and I really don’t think there’s anything else that I need right now.
