You can’t tell me you’re not familiar with the subject. Everyday you get news about new software in your email, and sometimes, let’s face it, this can get a bit confuzing. It happens to me, to you, and every other musician out there that’s using a computer to record, or produce music.
Anyway, Adrian Try from AudioTuts+ has asked it’s readers about a month ago what are their favorite soft-synths, and now, the results are in.
I quote: “Five synths stood out above the rest” – so as you’d expect, I should post a link to the article, and yes, I’m going to post it… but before I do that, I would like to say a few words about my top software synths.
So here I go…
My current top-5 software synths, as you’ll find out in a minute or so, is about the same as the AudioTuts+ one, except I’ve got a different order. I’d also like to point out that these are my “go-to” soft-synths every time I open up Logic, Live, or whatever DAW I have at disposal.
- Lennardigital Sylenth1 – Absolutely my favorite all-round soft-synth. From basslines to killer trance leads, Sylenth1 can do them all.
- uhe Zebra – Great synth too! I’ve used it a couple of times in some trance projects, and the rezults were stunning.
- Rob Papen Albino – Great (sub) bassline synth. If you’re into dubstep production, you have to check this out.
- Spectrasonics Omnisphere – One word: Monster! It has an impressive sound library, ranging from atmoshperic sounds to well, whatever you can think of. This has a bit of everything, and it sounds great.
- Native Instruments Komplete – Not a soft-synth, but rather a collection of soft-synths and samplers. I can’t begin to tell you about this, just because I’d have to write a couple of pages just to set the mood.
A note about Native Instruments Komplete: It’s an amazing piece of software, and the only reason it’s number 5 on my list is because I’m confortable using Sylenth1 mostly, and I don’t need other things. You should deffinately check this out if you haven’t already, you’ve got Kontakt, the most advanced sampler in the world right now (correct me if I’m wrong!), the ever-expanding Reaktor, and lot’s of other cool stuff!
So that’s about it for me. And I’ve just realized that my top 5 soft-synths is a bit different from the one at AudioTuts+ as you’ll find out, but hey, I’m only human.
To finish off this article, I invite you to check out their top 5 soft-synths, and answer me this: What’s on your top 5 soft-synths list?
PS: Sorry if I fucked up some words, I’m not that good with english. Here’s the link, enjoy: AudioTuts+ Top 5 Software Synths
