This must have happened to you at least once. You know, one of those days when nothing seems to come out right. This happened to me a few days ago and I’ve had a good idea on how to get passed this.
If you’re into electronic music, there’s a great website called NonStop2k that offers you access to hundreds of MIDI files of famous songs. You can see how tracks like Armin’s “In and out of love”, Tiesto’s “Adagio For Strings” or Swedish House Mafia’s “One” were made.
You can remix them and twist them any way you like. But that’s not what I did (you know, when I had no inspiration)… I used those MIDI files to check out various chord-progressions and stuff like that. It’s a great way to get yourself inspired.
And the community that supports that website is fantastic. You can also participate in remix contests, you can submit your own MIDI files, soft-synth presets, and more.
So, if you need some inspiration, you should go there to see what they have to offer, I’m sure you’ll find something to fit your mood. I know it’s not much, but this really helped me, so I wanted to share this tip, if I can call it that way.
What do you do when you run out of inspiration? Do you have any other resources?
