iZotope have just launched a new product. It’s called Nectar, and it’s supposed to be your 1st stop for vocal-processing.
What Exactly Is Nectar?
Nectar is a set of 11 vocal effects combined in one plug-in that’s designed to give you immediate results. It’s not just your AutoTune. It’s more than that… Nectar offers you multiple choices to process your vocals.
Available Tools
- Breath Control (Identifies breath sounds allowing you to either reduce the level of all breaths or normalize the breaths to a target level)
- Pitch Correction (Edit melody and correction amount on individual notes, recompose the song by simply dragging the notes)
- Desser (Control the sibilance from s and similar consonants independent of level, intelligently process the entire vocal track)
- Compressors (Special vocal compressors based on analog models of popular Optical and Solid-State hardware)
- Saturation (Add warmth and grit to your vocal with 5 saturation models – Analog, Retro, Tape, Tube and Warm)
- Doubler (High quality pitch shifting allowing you to create subtle or extreme effects. Gain, pan, pitch and delay controls available)
- EQ (High quality processing and intuitive display so you can see the frequencies superimposed over the nodes to control them)
- Gate (RMS detection and auto-gain, using iZotope’s gate design and graphical feedback)
- Limiter (Inteligent limiter that guarantees transparent operations. A unique level histogram display allows you to visualize what’s going on with your sound)
- Delay (Digital, Tape and Analog modes. Includes features like the ability to modulate and distort the delayed signal)
- Reverb (Designed and tweaked specifically for use with vocals. A color parameter to control how dark or bright the reverb sounds. The graphical display allows you to visualize your changes.)
Nectar comes with a set of 12 presets for popular genres. You can choose from: Alternative / Indie, Classical, Country, Dance / Electronica, Folk / Traditional, Hip-Hop / Rap, Jazz, Pop, Rock, Soul / RnB, Special FX and Voice-Over / Spoken. As you can see, iZotope has (almost) everything covered. But you can do some crazy stuff with this baby, if you feel like doing so. I forgot to mention, you can route the signal through the effects chain however you want, for more flexibility.
All in all, I do think this is an amazing high-quality plugin for vocal production. It goes beyond your old “T-Pain effect”.
iZotope Nectar is available for both Mac and Pc, and it costs $199 until December 13th as part of a promotion. The regular price is $299.
